Halloween ComicFest 2014 is on October 25th this year

Did you know that you can get free comic books just in time for Halloween? I just discovered the Halloween ComicFest and am excited that several of my local comic book shops will be participating. You can get a full sized comic for FREE. Each shop has different rules on how many you can get, so be cool and kind and follow what they say!

You can see a list of the participating comic book shops here.

For pictures of the full comics and to download previews, see here. There are twelve different options available. I am most intrigued by the My Little Pony and the Scooby Doo/Batman crossover.

Give out comics instead of candy this Halloween
I’m a speed reader, so I can devour both quickly. With comics, though, I can do that more than once 🙂

For previews of the mini comics, go here. There are seven possibilities including a little Plants vs. Zombies mini comic that I saw on the list. I think comics are a great way to get or keep kids reading since they marry colorful pictures with the stories. I plan on showing some to Miss ZZ when she is a bit older and has a longer attention span. Each set of 20 is $4.99. Not too shabby for something that can be consumed over and over again!

Hmm....my costume isn't ready yet! Boo.

There’s more, though. Once you have your lovely free comics in hand, step into your Halloween costume and take a picture of yourself holding them. Choose one of the five possible categories and enter yourself to win. They are having a Halloween costume contest where people will win shopping sprees to their local participating comic book store. Huzzah!

One adult and one child will each win a $500 shopping spree. Very shiny 🙂  Five adults and five kidlets will also win a $100 shopping spree. Finally, an adult and kid per category can win a category-specific prize pack if they  get the most votes by November 9th, 2014. I bet I could win that one!

Will you be attending the Halloween ComicFest? Which ones are you interested in? Do you hand out non-candy treats for Halloween?
