Life has been a bit topsy-turvy for the past couple of months and here is one of the main reasons why:
Miss Bella is 2 months now. We had to miss out on this year’s FanX in Salt Lake City since she was so little, but we plan on going to the Salt Lake Comic Con in September. I wonder what a good family cosplay would be? She has made her first appearance at a local game shop, at least, when we went to see Mr. Eric play Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures.
The first thing most people say is something about how much hair she has. I never knew you could see hair on an ultrasound until I did with her. They gave her a fauxhawk at the hospital after her first bath. The little sideburns are pretty cute also. I love it and hope it stays!
She is such a sweet baby. The past two weeks have brought the first real smiles. I make funny faces at her and enjoy the results. My heart swells at moments like this and I am so glad to have her with us.
Life with Two Kids is Quite a Change
It’s been interesting going from 1 kidlet to 2. Miss ZZ has been sleeping through the night for a while now, so I could have some time alone with Eric and time to myself. Thursdays were especially nice since I got a night off and Eric and ZZ got some quality time in together. As an introvert, it was just what I needed to recharge.
I could also go places easily enough since I only had one child to handle. The shopping cart size didn’t matter as long as it had a seat for her, since I didn’t have to try and fit an infant car seat inside. She didn’t have an opinion of what clothes she wanted to wear, so it didn’t take too long to get ready.
Now I have to get 3 people ready to go anywhere. Eric helps when he’s home, thank goodness (he’s wonderful that way), but it’s often just me. ZZ has definitely developed a case of the terrible twos and the tantrums that come along with it. Trying to put on clothes would set it off. It has gotten much easier now that I pick out a couple and give her a choice between them. It works especially well if it is purple since that is definitely her favorite color. It can be hard to juggle getting them both into the car and managing them. I plan on babywearing soon, so that should help.
ZZ also seems to have been a bit jealous at first. Poor Bella got a lot of smacks for a while. We kept trying different tactics to get ZZ to stop. I think the fact that she has baby dolls that make noises when you press on them didn’t help either. Taking those away and putting her in her room for a short time if she hit seems to have finally cured her. Thank goodness! She is such a sweet big sister overall…always trying to make the baby cozy and warm, wants to hold her, be next to her, try to give her snacks and other fun.
What Other Changes Are on the Way?
As if life with a newborn isn’t busy enough with all of the feedings, changings and more, we are moving. Our condo is sold and we are in the process of buying a house. I will get to realize one of my dreams since I will have fruit trees, a vegetable garden, and chickens. The latter will have geeky names, naturally. A new gardening/homesteading blog is in the process of being born, as is a site on drought-tolerant gardening. I figure it will be a good way to keep using my education and help others learn.
I plan to expand my blog here with crafts, foods and more. I think first up will be a food related to Deadpool 🙂 I get some of the subscription boxes (NerdBlock and GeekFuel, at the moment), so I will be doing unboxings. Let me know if there’s anything else you want to see…I love hearing from you!
How was the transition from 1 to 2 kids for you?
